Discoberta: TVA - You'll walk with me, 1981
Quem foram os TVA? não sei responder, as únicas referências que sei, o baterista era o George Castro (ex. The Warm), o single é de 1981, foi gravado em Paris e editado pela Warm Records, o lado A é uma balada de fazer chorar as pedras da calçada, o lado B é pub-rock com um fiozinho de punk.
Formação dos TVA:
Joanne Bennett (voz), George Castro(bateria), Martin Heskes(guitarra), Steve Rushton (baixo).

Posso confirmar que mandei fazer este disco dos TVA (IVA em Português) porque o meu "irmão" Jorge tinha lá esta bandazinha em Paris antes de ir para Hollywood tirar um curso de baterista e pediu-me que o fizesse, mas já foi ao que bem parece impresso em Portugal, até talvez ainda com a preciosa ajuda do Manuel Lorena (filho do Sr. Marquês de Pombal), meu sócio na Castro & Lorena, Lda, ou seja MHG/WARM Records, Lisboa, visto eu só ter regressado ao "nosso" país (se isto é um País per sei) e depois ele lá vendeu aquilo não sei aonde, mas talvez se tenha vendido cá também via centros comerciais, etc.
A música era uma "sort of "Rock n Roll", pós Punk e o bateur (Messieur Georges, há muito a viver em França) era um bocado "quadrado". Sim, ele tocou sessions nas gravações dos WARM, mas o melhor baterista que nós "The Warm" tivemos foi ainda com a formação "Warm" e era o Milton Smalling (poça o Jamaicanozinho tocava mesmo com Força e era mais Punk e Rock do que qualquer um). Grande Milton, aquilo é que era tocar bateria!
Pronto, espero ter dado o meu contributo para a "história" deste vinyl na Warm Records com a referência AWMR 2011 muito futurista, como sempre fui, pioneiro e futurista! Agora só penso re-editar qualquer coisa do catálogo WARM Records em Blu-Ray Disc para evitar "Pirataria" hahaha. LOL

I am Joanne Bennette, the singer on this record.
The story of TVA :
I was living in France and had managed to get a job as a singer but the job was for a group and I was a professional solo singer. I heard a group playing at a wedding in Paris and approached them and asked if they would be interested in the work. The group members were all amateur/semi-professional so work was only really at weekends etc. We had a residency in Paris and also did a lot of work for Air France (functions etc). At one of our gigs we were approached by a scout from a record company but as I was the only full time musician I ended up recording for them as a solo artist. After being together for a year or so, George joined the group and that is were the connection to Warm came about. We recorded the disc in a studio in Paris but unfortunately we had had a heavy gig the night before so my voice was not 100% and sounded rather husky. It was agreed though that the huskiness was an added bonus !! Originally the B side was going to be the A side but as Disco was the thing at that time Take a Train was not "current" and You´ll walk with Me became the A side.
Not long after making this record the group split up and I returned to the UK to pursue my solo career. We had many good times and I remember all the "boys" with a great fondness. Unfortunately I have lost touch with all of them so was VERY surprised to come across your blog.

TVA was the French way of saying VAT (value added tax). I can´t remember why we chose that name. Maybe because Martin was a banker and Steve was an accountant!! I´m not sure if I have kept any photos of the group as it is a long time and many house moves but I will look for you.
We worked mostly in restaurants but we did do a lot of "fetes" ..evening dances, weddings etc and as I said before we worked a lot for Air France. We always did their grand dances at the Hilton in Paris for Christmas or New Year.
Because the boys all had day jobs we were only semi professional and couldn´t really take any work out of Paris. We didn´t really have an up to date style (punk/rock/disco) we were just a general cabaret/dance band but we were always very well received wherever we played. This might have been because we were different from the usual French bands. Steve and myself were English, Martin was half American and George was Portuguese so there was definitely an English/American feel to our group.

I remember Jorge mentioning Joanne. I am Jorge's brother (Tuga Portuguee spelling of Georges à la Freanch). So he asked me toput the single on our label and we obliged though it was not punk, maybe new wavish)!
